Bringing Cook County History to Life Since 1924

Military Exhibit Donations

PLEASE HELP US BUILD A NEW MILITARY EXHIBIT

We need your support! Take this unique opportunity to contribute to a new exhibit sharing Cook County’s military history. On the Line: A Military History of Cook County is due to open in the early summer of 2017, and your generous donation will help tell the stories of our servicemen and women and their families at home.

Your contribution will assist with:
  • Collecting new oral histories and historic artifacts and photos from all historic eras
  • Creating archival displays for our collections of Civil War, WWI, and WWII objects
  • Updating lighting and care for the 121 year old Lightkeeper’s House kitchen
  • Building a new “Oral History corner” to share multimedia presentations with all generations

SEEKING MILITARY HISTORY STORIES AND OBJECTS
The Cook County Historical Society is currently seeking oral histories, objects, correspondence, photographs, and uniforms from all historic eras through the present. Stories we hope to tell include those of Cook County servicemen and women, military families “on the homefront,” life in Cook County during wartime, and civilian programs such as the Red Cross or Skywatch program.
This exhibit is scheduled to remain open for several years.
