Volunteers help us accomplish our mission of collecting, preserving, and sharing our Cook County culture, art, and history. 

Individual events

Bally Blacksmith & Metal Shop 

April 18th, 10 am-12 pm. Volunteers will help match objects to their descriptions and get the blacksmith shop spruced up for spring.

Chippewa City Church

May 9, 10 am-12 pm. Volunteers will help with general spring cleaning at the church site, including checking on last year’s tree plantings and other landscaping.

Seasonal volunteer opportunities

We are looking for volunteers to take one (or more) shifts during the following times, at the following sites. Tasks include greeting guests, answering questions, selling gift shop items (History Museum & Bally Blacksmith & Metal Shop only), and talking all things history!

These recurring roles help ensure our sites remain consistently open to the public throughout the summer!

  • Bally Blacksmith & Metal Shop

    • Friday 12 pm-2 pm

    • Saturday 2 pm-4 pm

  • Chippewa City Church

    • Friday 12-2 / 2-4

    • Sunday 12-2 / 2-4

  • Cook County History Museum

    • Sunday 1-4
