Welcome new staff members annie and victoria!

The Cook County Historical Society is thrilled to introduce our newest staff members, Annie and Victoria.

Annie Buresh is the new Cook County History Museum and collections manager. Annie graduated from Luther College with a degree in anthropology and museum studies. She is originally from southeastern Minnesota, where she worked at the local historical society beginning as an intern during the summer and eventually becoming the managing director. Annie says, “I have always had a passion for history, museums, and discovering interesting stories hidden in the past. I look forward to learning about the history of Cook County and sharing and preserving those stories with all of you!”

Victoria Lewandowski is the new Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery manager. Victoria is an avid weaver, earning a B.F.A in fibers, and spending several years working in textile design before shifting her focus from design back to art and history. She also has a master’s degree in museum studies, and while doing so, had the opportunity to work with contemporary artists as a fine arts specialist intern. Of this opportunity, she said, “This solidified my passion for uplifting and amplifying artists.”

Victoria shared, “Art and making have always been constants in my life. I’ve long been fascinated by how techniques reflect an artist’s geography and how everyday materials can become powerful tools for expression. Now, as manager of the Johnson Heritage Post, I’m honored to help celebrate regional art and connect visitors to the rich legacy and ongoing creative spirit of Cook County.”
